Genesis 14:21  Genesis 15:21

21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the people, and take the possessions for yourself.

22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, God the Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,

23 That I will not take a thread or a sandal thong or anything that is yours, lest you say, I have made Abram rich;

24 Except only that which the young men have eaten and the portion of the men who went with me – Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

CHAPTER 15

1 After these things the word of Jehovah came to Abram in a vision, saying, Do not be afraid, Abram; I am your shield and your exceedingly great reward.

2 And Abram said, O Lord Jehovah, what will You give me, for I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?

3 And Abram said, Since You have given me no seed, therefore, a servant in my house is my heir.

4 But then the word of Jehovah came to him, saying, This man shall not be your heir, but he who will come out from your own body shall be your heir.

5 And He brought him outside and said, Look now toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them. And He said to him, So shall your seed be.

6 And he believed Jehovah, and He accounted it to him as righteousness.

7 Then He said to him, I am Jehovah who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to inherit it.

8 And he said, O Lord Jehovah, how will I know that I will inherit it?

9 And He said to him, Bring Me a three-year-old heifer and a three-year-old female goat and a three-year-old ram and a turtledove and a young pigeon.

10 And he brought Him all these and cut them in two in the middle and laid the half of each opposite the other, but the birds he did not cut in two.

11 And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.

12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, behold, a terror and great darkness fell upon him.

13 And He said to Abram, Know assuredly that your seed will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs, and they will serve them; and they will afflict them four hundred years.

14 But I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.

15 But as for you, you will go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried in a good old age.

16 And in the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.

17 And when the sun went down and it was dark, there came a smoking furnace and a torch of fire which passed between these pieces.

18 On that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed do I give this land, From the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

19 The land of the Kenites and the Kenizzites and the Kadmonites

20 And the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Rephaim

21 And the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Girgashites and the Jebusites.

Genesis 14:2  Genesis 14:20

2 These kings made war with Bera the king of Sodom and with Birsha the king of Gomorrah, Shinab the king of Admah, and Shemeber the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).

3 All these joined together in the valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).

4 Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

5 And in the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and struck the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim and the Zuzim in Ham and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim

6 And the Horites in Mount Seir as far as El-paran, which is by the wilderness.

7 And they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and struck all the country of the Amalekites and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazazon-tamar.

8 And the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah and the king of Admah and the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went forth and set the battle in array against them in the valley of Siddim,

9 Against Chedorlaomer the king of Elam and Tidal the king of Goiim and Amraphel the king of Shinar and Arioch the king of Ellasar, four kings against the five.

10 Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits, and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled; and they fell there, but those who survived fled to the hill country.

11 And they took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food and went away.

12 And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, and his possessions and departed, for he was dwelling in Sodom.

13 And one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now he was dwelling by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; and these were allies of Abram.

14 And when Abram heard that his brother had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred eighteen of them, and pursued as far as Dan.

15 And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and struck them and pursued them to Hobah, which is north of Damascus.

16 And he brought back all the possessions and also brought back Lot his brother and his possessions as well as the women and the people.

17 And after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).

18 And Melchizedek the king of Salem brought out bread and wine. Now he was priest of God the Most High.

19 And he blessed him and said, Blessed be Abram of God the Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;

20 And blessed be God the Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And Abram gave him a tenth of all.

Genesis 12:17  Genesis 14:1

17 And Jehovah struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

18 And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?

19 Why did you say, She is my sister, so that I took her to be my wife? Now then here is your wife; take her and go.

20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.

CHAPTER 13

1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negev.

2 And Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver and in gold.

3 And he continued on his journey from the Negev as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

4 To the place of the altar, which he had made there formerly; and there Abram called on the name of Jehovah.

5 And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents.

6 And the land could not support them that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together.

7 And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. And at that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites dwelt in the land.

8 And Abram said to Lot, Let there please be no strife between me and you and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are brothers.

9 Is not the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.

10 And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw the entire plain of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere – this was before Jehovah had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah – like the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

11 So Lot chose for himself the entire plain of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed east; and they separated themselves from each other.

12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

13 Now the men of Sodom were very wicked and sinful toward Jehovah.

14 And Jehovah said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, Now lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward;

15 For all the land that you see I will give to you and to your seed forever.

16 And I will make your seed as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then your seed can also be numbered.

17 Rise up; walk through the land according to its length and its breadth, for I will give it to you.

18 And Abram moved his tent and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and there he built an altar to Jehovah.

CHAPTER 14

1 And in the days of Amraphel the king of Shinar, Arioch the king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and Tidal the king of Goiim,

Genesis 11:28  Genesis 12:16

28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

29 And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves: The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.

30 And Sarai was barren; she had no child.

31 And Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran they settled there.

32 And the days of Terah were two hundred five years, and Terah died in Haran.

CHAPTER 12

1 Now Jehovah said to Abram, Go from your land And from your relatives And from your father’s house To the land that I will show you;

2 And I will make of you a great nation, And I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.

3 And I will bless those who bless you, And he who curses you I will curse; And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.

4 So Abram went as Jehovah had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he went out of Haran.

5 And Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the souls that they had acquired in Haran, and they went out to go to the land of Canaan. And they came to the land of Canaan.

6 And Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. And at that time the Canaanites were in the land.

7 And Jehovah appeared to Abram and said, To your seed I will give this land. And there he built an altar to Jehovah who had appeared to him.

8 And he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to Jehovah and called upon the name of Jehovah.

9 And Abram journeyed onward, journeying toward the Negev.

10 And there was a famine in the land; and Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land.

11 And when he was about to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, I know indeed that you are a beautiful woman to look at;

12 And when the Egyptians see you, they will say, This is his wife, and they will kill me; but they will keep you alive.

13 Now say you are my sister, that it may be well with me on account of you and I may live because of you.

14 And it came about when Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.

15 And Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her before Pharaoh, and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.

16 And he treated Abram well on account of her, and he had sheep and oxen and donkeys and male servants and female servants and female donkeys and camels.

Genesis 11:1  Genesis 11:27

1 And the whole earth had one language and the same speech.

2 And as they journeyed east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

3 And they said to one another, Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and they had tar for mortar.

4 And they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose top is in the heavens; and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over the surface of the whole earth.

5 And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men had built.

6 And Jehovah said, Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and now nothing which they purpose to do will be kept from them.

7 Come, let Us go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

8 So Jehovah scattered them from there over the surface of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.

9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there Jehovah confounded the language of all the earth, and from there Jehovah scattered them over the surface of all the earth.

10 These are the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old when he begot Arpachshad, two years after the flood.

11 And Shem lived after he had begotten Arpachshad five hundred years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

12 And Arpachshad lived thirty-five years and begot Shelah.

13 And Arpachshad lived after he had begotten Shelah four hundred three years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

14 And Shelah lived thirty years and begot Eber.

15 And Shelah lived after he had begotten Eber four hundred three years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

16 And Eber lived thirty-four years and begot Peleg.

17 And Eber lived after he had begotten Peleg four hundred thirty years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

18 And Peleg lived thirty years and begot Reu.

19 And Peleg lived after he had begotten Reu two hundred nine years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

20 And Reu lived thirty-two years and begot Serug.

21 And Reu lived after he had begotten Serug two hundred seven years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

22 And Serug lived thirty years and begot Nahor.

23 And Serug lived after he had begotten Nahor two hundred years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

24 And Nahor lived twenty-nine years and begot Terah.

25 And Nahor lived after he had begotten Terah one hundred nineteen years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

26 And Terah lived seventy years and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

27 Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran begot Lot.
