Genesis 34:26  Genesis 35:15

26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and they took Dinah out of Shechem’s house and went away.

27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.

28 They took their flocks and their herds and their donkeys and whatever was in the city and whatever was in the field;

29 And they took captive and plundered all their wealth and all their little ones and their wives, and even all that was in the houses.

30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, You have brought trouble upon me by making me odious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and I am few in number, and they will gather themselves together against me and strike me; and I will be destroyed, I and my house.

31 And they said, Should he treat our sister like a harlot?

CHAPTER 35

1 And God said to Jacob, Rise up, go up to Bethel, and dwell there; and make an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.

2 Then Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, Put away the foreign gods that are among you, and purify yourselves, and change your garments.

3 And let us rise up and go up to Bethel, that I may make an altar there to the God who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.

4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hand and the rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the oak that was near Shechem.

5 And as they journeyed, the terror of God was upon the cities that were around them, so they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

6 And Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

7 And he built an altar there and called the place El-bethel, because there God had revealed Himself to him when he fled from his brother.

8 And Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; so its name was called Allon-bacuth.

9 And God appeared to Jacob again when he came from Paddan-aram and blessed him.

10 And God said to him, Your name is Jacob; Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, But Israel shall be your name. Thus He called his name Israel.

11 And God said to him, I am the All-sufficient God: Be fruitful and multiply; A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, And kings shall come forth from your loins.

12 And the land which I gave to Abraham and to Isaac, I will give to you; And I will give the land to your seed after you.

13 Then God went up from him in the place where He had spoken with him.

14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He had spoken with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured out a drink offering on it and poured oil on it.

15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God had spoken with him Bethel.
